8,000-square-foot structural steel commercial building

Geothermal heat pump system:

12-ton WaterFurnace water-to-air and water-to-water combination units and desuperheaters.

Geothermal loop system:

  • 12 vertical loops at 150 feet deep.
  • Two two-pump flow centers at ½-horsepower per pump.

Annual energy costs:

  • Shop heating and cooling (primarily heating) averaged $44.64 the first year.
  • Office and showroom heating and cooling averaged $77.07 for first year.

At a glance:

Air Care, Inc., is a full-service HVAC and mechanical contractor for residential and light/medium commercial customers.

The owners wanted to create their new building as an operating showcase for end-user products and as a comfortable workspace.

They also desired to differentiate their business from other typical HVAC contractors by using geothermal.

According to the owners, their geothermal business has tripled in the past year.
