Closed Loops
Horizontal loops, vertical loops, slinky coils and cooling tower heat rejection. Horizontal Loops If sufficient land area suitable for drilling or trenching is available, horizontal loops may be the most economic. Vertical Loops Vertical systems are used where land is too rocky for an economic horizontal system, and for commercial or educational facilities. Slinky Coils Slinky coils concentrate the heat transfer surface into a small volume, requiring less land area and shorter trenching. Cooling Towers A hybrid system with cooling tower heat rejection is an alternative for commercial applications that may not have the land area for a full-sized ground coil.
