Installing

Learn techniques for installing open and closed loop systems, including pipe joining.

Slinky Coils

Slinky coils can be installed horizontally at the bottom of a three-foot-wide trench.

Open Loops

In an open loop system, groundwater is usually supplied to the heat pump by a drilled well with a submersible pump system.

Pipe Joining

The pipe joining process using heat fusion, in which two sections of plastic pipe trimmed and cleaned, aligned, heated to the melting point, brought together, and allowed to cool.

Headers & Building Penetrations

The header system for ground heat exchangers should be designed to allow easy removal of air. To bring the header piping into the building, the point of entry must be identified, protected, and sealed.
